In whom is this treatment indicated?

In patients who have dark circles and who want to eliminate them.

On the other hand, if we use carboxytherapy (a subcutaneous application of carbon dioxide (CO2) *), it is recommended not to do this treatment in pregnant women, patients suffering from recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina, congestive heart failure, gangrene, epilepsy, hypertension severe arterial, acute thrombophlebitis, chronic liver and kidney failure.

* Carbon dioxide is a powerful vasodilator, which increases the flow of oxygen to the tissues by improving local circulation.

Why do dark circles appear?

There are several factors that contribute to the appearance of these dark spots around the eye: a genetic predisposition, excess blood vessels or melanin in the lower eyelid.

Treatments to eliminate dark circles

In dark circles, carboxytherapy would be a procedure that would soften hyperpigmented spots.

Carboxytherapy consists of a subcutaneous application of carbon dioxide, with a needle connected to the machine, at points in the eye area. A gentle massage is performed manually to diffuse the gas and reduce any uncomfortable sensation. Due to the entry of CO2 during the procedure, there is usually a slight temporary inflammation around the eye. Once the procedure is completed, the patient can lead a normal life.

The most notable dark circles can be treated together with specific peels, to correct blemishes and induce collagen formation.

A specific hyaluronic acid is applied to the region to improve local depth. The treatment does not hurt, it is effective and immediate and lasts a year. The technique consists of performing a small point of anesthesia and with a cannula oriented to the sunken area around the eye, small amounts of the product are deposited.

Side effects of treatment

The filling with hyaluronic acid can cause local bruising, which disappears after a few days.

Carboxytherapy can cause oppressive pain at the injection site, which is related to the rate of gas flow and the patient’s level of tolerance. Subcutaneous lesions, bruising or some severe edema may also appear.

Recommendations before and after treatment

Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid cannot be taken 7 days before treatment, since they increase the risk of bruising.

Do not perform laser sessions or apply botulinum toxin until after three days.

After finishing the sessions you can resume normal life.
