Hyaluronic acid fillers

What are hyaluronic acid fillers?

Over time, the skin ages as hyaluronic acid (a substance found in multiple tissues and organs in our body) decreases. This loss of hyaluronic acid causes wrinkles, sagging and elasticity to appear.

To replace these volumes, we use hyaluronic acid fillers, since they have reconstructive and aesthetic purposes.

At Dr Vicente Paloma Mora, the Hyaluronic Acids we apply are the best on the market: Emervel®, Juvederm®, Restylane®, Volbella® and Volift®.

In whom is hyaluronic acid filler indicated?

Hyaluronic acid is indicated in patients who have a nasolabial sulcus, lip commissures (also known as puppet lines), lip profiling and augmentation, wrinkles around the mouth (better known as barcodes), wrinkles around the eye (known as crow’s feet), mandibular profile, loss of cheekbones, filling of depressions and increased volumes in the body and face, defects after liposuction and rejuvenation of the hands.

In which people is hyaluronic acid filler contraindicated?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are contraindicated in patients who have suffered from cold sores, who should do prophylactic treatment before the session. It is also contraindicated in pregnant women, lactating women, people suffering from allergies to any component of the product and autoimmune diseases.

What does the hyaluronic acid filler consist of?

Each case is different, so the choice of the best product and the technique used are valued in each patient. We weigh their pros and cons together with the patient to achieve their greatest satisfaction.

The treatment is always carried out by a licensed doctor. Before the session, an anesthetic cream or anesthetic block is applied. Although, in some cases, anesthesia is not necessary, since it does not produce pain.

The session consists of the injection of resorbable hyaluronic acid with a cannula under the skin or with very fine needles.

After treatment, the patient can continue his normal life.

The session lasts about half an hour.

Recommendations before and after filling of hyaluronic acid

One week before treatment, it is recommended not to take anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen or aspirin. We recommend paracetamol if necessary, since it has no contraindications.

After the treatment, we recommend not doing intense physical exercise, avoiding strong massages in the treated area, exposing yourself directly to the sun or to heat sources (such as a sauna, Jacuzzi, hair dryer, etc.), avoiding facial treatments with electric currents for a month and medium and peeling, at least until there is no regeneration of the skin.

The results

The results of the hyaluronic acid filler are seen immediately and the duration will depend on the area treated, the lifestyle of the patient (if you sunbathe, if you smoke, if you drink alcohol or do physical exercise) and the type of hyaluronic acid injected : Emervel®, Juvederm®, Restylane®, Volbella® or Volift®.

The average duration is from 9 months to one year.
